TWO
KEY OPTIONAL SHORE EXCURSIONS – PETRA AND LUXOR,
EGYPT
These are not published yet for 2008 but this is
an example of what Silversea offered in 2007
|
|
|
Petra 8.5 to 9 hours $195:
This excursion provides the opportunity to visit
Jordan's most famous attraction, the spectacular
rose-red City of Petra. Depart the port in comfortable
coaches. The drive to Petra is approximately 2-2.5
hours each way and travel for the most part along the
Desert Highway. The last stretch takes you through a
series of small villages. Onsite, extensive walking is
involved, first through the half-mile-long defile and
then within Petra; in total about 3 hours, much of it on
uneven ground. Visit the magnificent site of Al Khazneh.
With its impressive, red colored façade, pictured in the
final scenes of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, the
structure is one of Petra’s grandest monuments and one
of the most exquisite remains of antiquity. Beyond the
Treasury there are hundreds of structures, most of them
carved out of the rocky terrain. They include soaring
temples, elaborate royal tombs and a theater with
seating for 3,000 spectators. Returning to the exit, you
will proceed to one of the nearby, 5-star hotels for a
buffet lunch. Afterwards, rejoin your coach for the
drive back to Aqaba. |
|
|
Luxor
Overland One Night – Two Days $595:
Karnak Temple:
This magnificent temple complex was built, enlarged and
decorated over a period of nearly 1,500 years. During a
guided tour of 1.5 hours, you will be able to see the
most important parts of this magnificent temple
complex. From Karnak proceed to Luxor and your hotel
for a buffet lunch. Next a visit to the Temple of Luxor
is scheduled for the afternoon.
Luxor Temple:
The sheer grandeur
of this temple and the excellent state of preservation
never fail to amaze visitors. Enjoy a one-hour guided
visit followed by your return to the hotel for
check-in.
Optional Sound & Light Show:
This evening you will
have the opportunity to attend the spectacular Karnak
Sound & Light Show. (Not included in tour price.) After
an early buffet breakfast, you will head to the
Valley of the Kings on the Nile's West Bank for a
visit to the sacred burial sites of the pharaohs. From
the coach parking area, it is about a 15-minute walk to
the tombs, of which three will be visited, including the
tomb of King Tut. A photo stop is made at The
Temple of Queen Hatshepsut.
Another highlight will be your visit to
Medinet Habu.
This
magnificent temple complex, built by Ramses III, the
last great pharaoh of Egypt is the best preserved of all
mortuary temples of Thebes, boasting 75,350 square feet
of decorated surfaces across its walls. As you head back
toward the Nile, a photo stop will be made at
Colossi of Memnon
these are two imposing statues that stand isolated in a
farmer’s field, they are all that remains of the Temple
of Amenhotep III. From here, go to the hotel for a
buffet lunch, followed by the return journey to Safaga
to join the Silver Whisper. |

INSURANCE ISSUES
WE MUST HAVE AN ANSWER BEFORE MAKING YOUR INITIAL DEPOSIT
|
SILVERSEAS REASSURANCE PROGRAM |
|
Silversea's
Reassurance Program ensures you peace of mind and the
maximum flexibility when planning your cruise. It can
protect you from the penalties and anxieties of canceling
your cruise within 14 days of departure for any reason.
Instead of losing 100% of the total charges paid for your
Silversea cruise holiday (including air, pre- and/or
post-cruise hotel programs and land packages) you will
receive a Reassurance Cruise Credit for any and all
cancellation penalties, regardless of why you choose to
cancel. This is NOT regular travel insurance and has no
money back refund, covers no medical, baggage, evacuation or
any other coverage. This must be purchased or declined at
the time of deposit. If you have regular travel insurance
and cancel for a medical reason you would be reimbursed by
your travel insurance cancellation coverage. Reassurance is
primarily for those people who feel for a business or
personal reason they may need to cancel at the last minute. |
|
TRAVEL
INSURANCE COMBINED WITH SILVERSEA REASSURANCE |
|
We need to buy the Reassurance Plan at the time of deposit
IF YOU WANT IT. The fee for this program is a percentage
cost and is based on the total holiday cost
that includes, but is not limited to the cruise fare, any of
Silversea's optional pre-purchased travel programs, air and
transfers.
-
Reassurance cost 8% with
NO Silversea Guest Care travel insurance
-
Reassurance cost 3% WITH
Silversea Guest Care travel insurance
-
Reassurance must be
purchased or declined at the time of the deposit.
-
Refundable outside of
penalty periods.
Difference between Reassurance and
Silversea Guest Care or Regular Travel insurance.
-
Regular insurance:
You cancel you get your MONEY BACK, plus medical,
evacuation, baggage etc.
-
Reassurance:
You cancel between 14 days to 0 days FOR ANY REASON
before departure and you get a FUTURE CRUISE CREDIT for
the cost of the towards another Silversea cruise.
Anyone
wanting BOTH the reassurance plan and also regular Travel
insurance there is no logic at all in purchasing anything
but Silversea Guest Care Travel Insurance because you have
5% savings on the reassurance program. |
|
SILVERSEA GUEST
CARE TRAVEL INSURANCE – PREMIUM IS 8%
|
|
BerkelyCare administers Silversea Guest Care Insurance. The
same company that administers Regent’s travel insurance. The
premium for this insurance is 8% and is based on the total
holiday cost

Silversea's optional pre-purchased travel programs, air and
transfers.
If you
purchase Silversea Guest Care Insurance before or at final
payment all pre-existing conditions are covered. The
primary coverage is as follows: Trip Cancellation or Trip
Interruption: Total Cruise Cost Emergency Evacuation,
$50,000 Accident Medical Expense: $10,000, Sickness Medical
Expense: $10,000, Baggage and Personal Effects: $3000,
Bagga Personal Effects: $3000,
Bagga Personal Effects: $3000,

TRAVEL INSURANCE OTHER
THAN SILVERSEA INSURANCE
|
|
If you do not wish
to purchase the Silversea Reassurance Program and want
regular travel insurance please contact us to compare your
options between Silversea’s GuestCare and the travel
policies we also sell. This decision can be made at the time
of final payment. Of course insurance is optional and you
